Why ‘one size’ DOES fit all in fat loss

As we’ve all been told 84 times in the last 7 days by all your favourite instagram influencers, we are ALL different. We are all unique entities with unique VNTRs within our DNA. Some of us are genetically predisposed to store the majority of our fat in our abdomen, some more in the legs, some in the lower back. Some people like broccoli, some prefer not eating brocolli. Some people enjoy resistance training with the typical Push, Pull, Legs split, some enjoy crossfit and exerting themseleves to the point where they can’t breathe, some enjoy running, and some enjoy doing absolutely nothing. Point being that, yeah, we ARE all different.

However, i think sometimes this is exaggerated a little extremely, as if we’re all actually of different species. A little reminder, that genetically, we share 99.9% of DNA and therefore the genetic difference is a mere 0.1%.

Now lets take this further with regard to fat loss. As you’ve (hopefully) heard a million times, in order to lose fat we need to be in a calorie deficit, meaning that our body needs to expend more calories than we are consuming, thus causing the lipolysis of fat cells. Remembering that calories are simply a unit of energy. We are animals.

So, yes, we are all different in determining what type of food we enjoy and perhaps digest better, what we enjoy doing, however for the…
