Why food selection is as important as a calorie deficit

Calories in vs calories out. Yes — that’s the vehicle to any body composition goal you want to achieve, however food selection is also an important consideration when it comes to being able to adhere to either a deficit, or a surplus.

Deficit = fat loss. Simple.

Or is it?

Although principally and theoretically YES that is what happens and that is how to lose fat, but we all know this. Where people struggle is actually applying and sustaining these principles — which is where food choice really comes in to play.
