So this must work by increasing your bodys caloric expenditure? Or making all the food we consume diffuse directly out of our bodies? Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) not. Fibre can help aid weight loss, however ONLY because it increases satiety and is usually high in volume comparitive to calorie content, therefore individuals feel more satiated, eat less and thus there we have it, a CALORIC DEFICIT. Further to this, a meta-analysis of all the clinical trials investigating supplementation of glucomannan has concluded that there has been no statistically signifiant weight loss shown when using the supplementation of glucomannan. When glucomannan is supplemented alongside a hypocaloric diet, YES, weight loss is achieved, however that is NOT due to the glucomannan directly, but infact a CALORIC DEFICIT.
